Who is Really the Healer?

I suspect it is with some pride that the medical fraternity today is able to say that they have managed to figure out how to "cure" a very large number of diseases out there. (well at least the symptoms of most). They can set bones, and replace joints. And currently most organs are even replaceable.

And to top things off, stem cell research has recently been legalized (with some limits of course). Though even with those limits firmly in place in most countries in the world, research in this arena has brought forth a new field of medicine called "regenerative medicine". Very exciting times. I wonder how the drug companies are going to react to this new medicine?

And on the other side there are the alternatives, of which I am proud to say I am a member. The herbalists, the homeopaths, the Reiki healers and the Chinese medicine healers. The list goes on, and on... All of them offering some promise of health and wellbeing in their own respective ways.

Now comparing all of these, there appears to be one very distorted commonality. It seems for the most part, wild claims of extravagant healing abilities are the order of the day. The doctor might say that the natural healer is practicing "voodoo" which can not really work, whilst his allopathic (or perhaps combination alternative) practices work well. And the healer on the other hand will say that the doctor is really only treating the symptoms, not the cause.

And even though there are clearly visible successes on all sides, this debate can go on, and on, and then on some more....

It is only when we consider what these health practitioners are dealing with that it starts to become a little clearer. They are dealing with people. Real living beings.

So now, if I brake a bone in my body, say a leg. What does the doctor really do for me? Well that is quite simple really. He sets the bone so it can grow back together. Does the doctor make the bone grow? "Grow" being the operative word. I don't think so....

When the healer aligns your energy patterns, and chakras, does the healer actually fix your health problem? Again I have to admit, I don't think so.... The healer only enables your body to figure out what is really wrong, and then fix itself accordingly.

When the homeopath prescribes a remedy or herb for an ailment. Is he really curing the ailment, or just helping the body cope to resolve the ailment itself? I mean do homeopaths not just use a kind of "reverse psychology". Medicines derived from onions for your eyes, and from rattlesnake poison for your nerves? Hmm..

And even though I can already sense there might be those that will disagree, I have to wonder who it is that is actually doing the healing. It is after all my body that grows the bones together. Yes, yes, the doctor might have had to position the bone so it grows back to a normal condition. But my body still had to do the actual growing. And if my body does not grow the bone back, no doctor can really fix it, I assure you.

And when the healer aligns the energy patterns of the body. Is it not after all my body that now has a "renewed" ability to heal itself?

So what conclusions am I left with here.

Simply this. The only person that can heal you is you. Yes, the doctor and the alternative can help increase your ability to heal, and even increase the speed at which you heal. But the true healing comes from within you.

So don't ever forget. You have the power. Be sure to use it....
